We held our first ever Brighter Days Care Easter Coffee Morning today at Evergreen Café in Amesbury today, and what a success it was! Clients, families and carers came together to enjoy some refreshments, delicious cakes, good company and plenty of egg-cellent Easter fun. There were games, prizes, hand-decorated spring plants and some Easter treats to take home.

The main event of the morning was the Brighter Days Bonnet Parade, where clients were given the chance to show off their creativity by designing an Easter bonnet. We had some fabulous entries, and it was eggs-tremely difficult to pick a winner, but first prize had to go to Gerald for his fluffy easter chick bonnet complete with homemade ribbons, well done Gerry.

There was also a Kids Competition for the best bonnets, decorated eggs and Easter crafts. We were inundated with entries and received some brilliant pictures. Brighter Days Client Margaret was the guest judge for this event and had the tough job of picking her favourites.

Congratulations to Demi on being awarded first place for her impressive Easter bunny topped bonnet and to twin brothers Parker and James for their colourful Easter wreaths. Easter eggs are on their way to the winners, but their will also be a treat for everyone who took part for their fantastic effort.

Today’s coffee morning was a great opportunity for clients to spend time with others, enjoy some refreshments and have some fun. Many older people in the community suffer with social isolation and feelings of loneliness and events like this can make a huge difference, providing a much-needed boost to a person’s mental and emotional wellbeing.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and supported our coffee morning today, we are hoping to make this a regular event, so watch this space for more details.
